春休みが1週間ほどあったので遊びに出かけました。

主に2つの場所に行って来たので分けて書こうと思います。


1つめはこの間書いたとおり2泊3日でTahoeにスノボーしに行きました。

雪はと言うと…ありました！！

それも結構しっかり^^


車は2台で行き、私の車と友達の車を使いました。

車をレンタルするより安くなったのでいいことだと思います。

しかし、ボードから全て道具を全く持っていなかったので全てレンタルしました。

レンタル代は2日間で大体$90くらいでした。

日本で全て一式レンタルしたことは無いので比較ができませんが、こっちのほうが安いのでしょうか？

1ドル80円で換算すると大体7200円ってところですね。


1日目は私たちの市からホテルまでドライブし、夕飯を食べて寝た、という感じでした笑

ホテルがある市の名前はSouth Lake Tahoeという名前です。

この街はスキー・スノボーをする人のための宿舎がたくさんありました。

それと同じくらい居酒屋やカジノがあり、楽しい街でした！(こっちのお酒、ギャンブルは21歳からで身分証明書確認必須なので入るだけで飲んだり賭けたりは出来ませんでしたが笑)


2日目はすごく暑く、ウエアの下は半袖1枚で足りました。

日本ではこんなことなかったのでびっくりです笑

日差しがかなり強く、サングラスをして滑ったのですが
結局日焼け止めクリームをつけていなかったので見事に顔が真っ赤に…

その後数日間はヒリヒリしました笑


3日目は曇。

1日目の夜に雪が積もらない程度に降ったので少し寒かったです。

しかし相変わらず中は半袖1枚で滑りました笑

片道大体4時間くらいのドライブで運転交代なしでかなり疲れましたが、アメリカ来てからスノボーはまさか出来るとは思っていなかったので今回のボードはいい経験になったと思います！

英語はついにESL(留学生向けの英語の基礎授業)を抜けだしてアメリカ人と一緒に取る普通の英語の授業に突入しました。
今学期は読むものがたくさんあって大変そうです…

今学期は合計18units

ファイナルが近い、ということを前に書きましたが、あと数日でファイナルです。

私は今学期、数学がありますが、それがとにかく大変でなりません。

この週末は数学をやって過ごしました。

こんなに数学をやったのは本当に数年ぶりだと思います。

やらずに後悔するよりやって後悔する方がまし

ということを頭において今回はそれを実践してみました。

一番は後悔しないことですが、数学は不得意分野なのでどうなるかわかりません笑

今日は英語のファイナルの課題を読んで寝るとします。

春休みまであと1週間、ということで友達とどこか行こうという事で計画を立てました。

春休み自体はたったの1週間ですが有意義な休みにしたいと思います。

1つ目の計画！
スノボーをしにTahoeというところに行きます。

Tahoeは湖があり、カリフォルニアとネバダの間に位置しています。

私達の車でいくのは人数的にも不可能なので車を借りることになりそうです。

日本にいればこの時期友達とスノボーに行って大忙しのハズですが残念ながらアメリカにいるので今年は1回で我慢したいと思います。

雪があるといいなーと願いながら行きたいと思います笑

最近忙しくて更新する暇がありませんでした。

今日は休憩がてら更新しようと思います。

あと数日で最終考査があります。

前のクオーターは特にテストがなかったのでこれが初めての最終考査になります。

一番の敵は統計学。

私のクラスはいつもみんなでクイズを解いていいということになっているのでクイズはあまり苦労しませんでした。

しかし、最終テストでは自分のみ、協力はなしという感じで解かなければならないので苦労しそうです。

あと数日あるので頑張って勉強しようと思います。

最近友達とスターバックスで勉強し始めるようになりました。

日本にいるとき、何人かの友達はスターバックスで勉強していたようですが私はしたことがありませんでした。

スターバックス、何故か集中できます！

図書館の代わりの勉強スポットにしようかな、と思っています今のところ^^

こんなことを書いている間に警察官がふたり、スターバックスに入ってきてコーヒーを注文して出て行きました。

日本にいるとき、警察官が勤務中にどこかに立ち寄ってコーヒーなどの飲み物を注文するということは見たことが無かったので、日本の警察官はそういうことはしないのでしょうか？

もししないとしたらこれも文化の違いですね！

腰完全に治りましたやっと。

なんだかわかりませんでしたが、とりあえず医者に行かずに済みました。

こっちの医者は普通にボディーチェックだけで10万とかかかるので簡単には行くことはできません…

前まで少し風邪気味でしたが、それも治ったようなのでよかったです(^^)

昨日バドミントンから帰ってきたら背中が急に痛み始め、そのうち治るだろうと思ってそのまま寝たら今朝悪化していました。

ぎっくり腰か何かでしょうか、相当な痛みです。

朝起きたあとシップを貼りました。

アメリカでシップを使うのはこれが初めてです。

ついでに風邪気味なのか、鼻水が止まりません…

今週末はPresident's Dayなので少しの間休みです。

と言っても私は授業が月曜日に無いのでいつも同じだけ休みがありますが笑

今日は早く寝たいと思います。

After I came to the United States, I was surprised because people here rarely have rice. When I stayed with family, I had to eat cereal or bread every morning and ate only potatoes or chicken without rice for dinner. I already got used to it, but I couldn’t stand it when I ate these at the first time because my mother always served me foods with rice. When I saw only potatoes on the dish, I didn’t know how to eat because I came home late at that time and my host mother saved dinner for me. She just said that I should have microwaved it after I came back home. So I just microwaved it and ate that potato with butter. I wasn’t full at all and the taste was really simple. Later, when I ate with my host family, my host said that I should have eaten with butter, cheese, and something else. After that, I ate only potatoes a few times with butter, cream, cheese and something else.
Even if they serve me rice, the rice was totally hard and the taste was not good.
It was Chinese rice or Indian rice. Some people eat jasmine rice. These rice’s shape is basically long shaped and not sticky at all. Japanese rice, which is the best in the world, is round shaped, a little bit sticky (it depends on how much water are you gonna put or depends on rice cookers) and good taste. Even here, I look for Japanese rice and eat that most of times.
But there is a problem. No stores are selling Japanese rice that is produced in Japan. I thought they were selling the rice that was produced in Japan, but sadly, all Japanese rice were produced in California. I looked for Japanese rice at several stores, but they didn’t have rice produced in Japan. Though interestingly, the brand of these rice are Japanese one.
I have never bought rice in Japan because my parents sent me rice when I was living in Tokyo to go to university so I don’t know the price of rice in Japan. The price of Japanese rice (the one I bought) is about $13 for 15lbs. I think it is not that expensive and we can enjoy tasting Japanese quality rice (I don’t know whether I can say Japanese quality or not) in this price.
Maybe I just miss Japanese rice so that I cannot see the other countries’ rice. I can say this is bad for me because I miss the chance to experience the other countries’ culture. But so far, Japanese rice is the best in the universe :)

I went to Twin Peaks in SF yesterday. We went there because yesterday was one of my friends’ birthday and she said she wanted to go there. We left our house at around 12 o’clock and arrived there in about 40 minutes. There are a lot of people in our group so we went there by 3 cars. We left our house at the same time and arrived at almost same time.
I was so sleepy so I chewed a gum and woke me up because nobody except three people in our group could drive cars. So I had to drive haha
When we arrived at Twin Peaks, there were a lot of people there and the parking lot was full. We parked at small place that there were no lines. Soon after we parked there, the police came and we were afraid of getting ticket so we moved to the car to the spot that had lines.
The night view of SF was beautiful. We even could see Golden Gate Bridge. The scenery reminded of the night view of LA. I went there during this New Year and it was beautiful. Compared to the scenery of SF, the scenery of LA is better because there are a lot of colorful lights there. The lights in SF looked like only orange, that’s it. But still, looking at night view made me happy. I wish I could go there with my future girlfriend someday and talk quietly lol What a grate situation it is…
At the place, there are a lot of people who were playing music from cars. The music was laud! We also played music from my friend’s car and some people in my group danced :) But suddenly, the police came to the place and all of the people turned down the volume of the music and the place became quiet suddenly. It was interesting because it seems that all of the people there were afraid of the cops. And the cops stayed the place so we could not turn up the volume.
After we saw the scenery, we went into SF to eat some food, but it was already 2 o’clock. The place that we went was opened, but a lot of people were waiting in line. So we gave up eating and decided to go home.
On the way to get in the car from the place, we saw a lot of people who got drunk. They were taking pictures in good mood and with laud voice. I thought they didn’t remember having taken pictures on the road next day, but also thought if they were happy, that’s ok haha

昨日の夜、友達の誕生日でその友達がサンフランシスコのTwin Peaksに行きたいといったので行ってきました。

その場所は一言で言えばサンフランシスコの夜景を見る場所。

私の家から約40分で行くことができます。

夜景の写真はこんな感じです。



そこでの面白かったことはみんな車から音楽を流して夜景を楽しんでいるのですが、警察が来るとみんな音楽を止めて一気に静かになります笑

みんな警察が怖いんですね多分^^;

サンフランシスコの街中は運転しづらいです。

信号がたくさんあり、急に道が細くなったり一方通行(One Way)がたくさんあったり…

街中の人もみんな寝ていませんでした。(街中に入ったのは夜の2時くらいでした)

これがアメリカといった感じでしょうか。
